"Your Religion Matters" 22 Year-Old Denied A Rental Home in Bengaluru Because of His Religion

A man from Bengaluru has found himself helpless while finding a new rental home as he claims that religion is one of the challenging aspects that is creating huge challenges in finding a good locality to live in.

The 22-year-old techie belongs to a reputed company and is a NIT graduate. He took to Reddit to make a post about how difficult it is for him to find a rental place because of the religion he holds. Despite of agreeing to pay for the mentioned rental charges, the individual was denied.

Sharing some background, the techie is a 22-year-old Muslim working guy from one of the most reputed organizations in the world. He is looking for a newly built apartment that has public transportation access and is close to Belandur and Marathalli. However, his quest for a new house was soon declined because of his religion.

He claimed that the landlord refused to give him the place after he got aware of his religion. Likewise, the brokers also showed him properties that were in dilapidated places. His Reddit post created a lot of upvotes and some suggested the hardships they face while booking for a house to live in. Not only this but many of them have helped by suggesting a good source to find apartments.

This provides evidence of the parity certain communities and religions face in urban living. While here the case is of inter-religion, many cases in Bengaluru emerged where jobs and profiles were checked before lending out the flats and apartments.
