Airstrikes on Syria Collectively by US, UK and France

In response to the chemical attack in Syria this week. US, UK, and France jointly launched air strikes on Syria’s chemical weapon facilities nearly 10 explosions were heard in and around Damascus and Hom.

Through a Television address, US President Donald Trump made it clear that the US and its allies aimed to carry out this strikes in order until “the Syrian regime stops its use of chemical weapons.” The president also said that the attack involved “precision strikes on targets associated with chemical weapons facilities”.

Seven minutes after the Televised address of US President, explosions were reported in the Syrian capital Damascus and Hom. Among the targets is a branch of a research center that can be linked to the suspected chemical weapon development program of the country and several other air bases.

According to the official confirmation, the ship launched missiles and planes were involved to carry forward the attack, while UK used GR4 Tornados warplanes to hit its targets.

Before the attack US, UK and France had collectively come to the conclusion that Syria is responsible for the last week chemical attack in its own territory of Douma, the accusation which is denied by both Syria and Russia. On the other hand, they have claimed the attack had been staged by British intelligence.

Followed by the US, UK and France also released a statement confirming their association in the air strikes on Syria. The French president, Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that France is involved in the air strikes. “We cannot tolerate the recurring use of chemical weapons, which is an immediate danger for the Syrian people and our collective security” the statement said.

At the same time in London, Theresa May issued a statement about British participation in the air strikes. “I have authorized British armed forces to conduct coordinated and targeted strikes to degrade the Syrian Regime’s chemical weapons capability and deter their use,” the prime minister released the written statement from Downing Street.

Russia reacted sharply, warning that there will be consequences. Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said, Moscow’s warnings have been left unheard and that Russia is being threatened. “We warned that such actions would not be left without consequences”. He also said, “Insulting the president of Russia is unacceptable and inadmissible” and said that the US, has no moral right to blame other countries when it itself is a holder of chemical weapons.

According to World Health Organisation, which has released a report on the chemical attack on Syria’s rebel-held town of Douma, last week, which says 500 people have been affected by the attack. Most of this 500 people have shown symptoms of the presence of a toxic chemical in their body.

Till March 2018, in Syria, 353,900 people were killed, including 106,000 civilians and the war continues between the Syrian government and the rebels, who don’t want the rule of President Assad. Syrian President is fighting the rebels in his own country with the support of Russia, Iran, and Turkey, while the rebels are supported by the US, UK, and France, but the main causality of this war remains the innocent woman and children of Syria.
