Another Woman Sues to Break Silence on Alleged Trump Affair

A former Playboy model Karen McDougal has come out with the claims of having an affair with US President Donald Trump and sued recently to be released from a legal agreement, becoming the second woman in a month to challenge President Donald Trump’s efforts during the presidential campaign to hide stories of his extra-marital relationships.

The model has recently sued American Media Inc. or AMI, the company that owns The National Enquirer. The company has arranged to pay her $150,000 to be silent during the Presidential campaign of Donald Trump in the year 2016. The other woman, who filed a suit earlier this month with a similar clause is the adult entertainment star Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels. She was paid $130,000 to stay silent by the President's personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen.

Though US President Donald Trump has denied the affairs in several occasions, but both the women argued of having an affair and that the contracts are invalid and want their case to be tried in an open court.

McDougal in her lawsuit filed recently in Los Angeles Superior Court wants to be released from the 2016 legal agreement, which she has made with American Media Inc., which prevents her from speaking about the alleged affair.

She also claims that Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Cohen was secretly involved in her talks with American Media Inc. and that the media company and her lawyer at the time has misled her about the deal. She also asserts that after she spoke with The New Yorker last month, American Media Inc. warned her “any further disclosures would breach Karen's contract” and “cause considerable monetary damages”. Karen McDougal’s new lawyer Peter K. Stris has accused American Media Inc. of “a multiple effort to silence Karen McDougal”.

McDougal’s lawsuit also mentions that when she negotiated with American Media Inc., as she was not aware that the tabloid’s chief executive is David J. Pecker, a friend of President Trump. She added that Keith Davidson, her lawyer then, who helped finalizing the deal with American Media Inc. has also worked for Clifford, convincing her to sign the deal in return of the money. According to the deal more than 100 columns or articles and two covers with the publication were kept on hold.

According to Karen McDougal, she and Donald Trump were engaged in an extramarital “romantic relationship” for ten months between 2006 and 2007, a time period that overlaps with his alleged affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Trump’s wife Melania Trump gave birth to the president’s youngest son Barron in 2006.

The case came up in the court on the same day. A New York state judge ruled, Trump must face a defamation suit by California restaurateur Summer Zervos, who has accused Trump of sexual harassment after she participated in his reality show named “The Apprentice”.

On the other hand Stephanie Clifford who claimed, she was paid $130,000 for her silence by Trump’s lawyer Michael D. Cohen filed her lawsuit earlier this month to make her agreement null and void. The White House has also denied Stephanie Clifford’s allegations. McDougal filed her suit just days before Stephanie Clifford was going to appear on 60 Minutes a television reality show to discuss her alleged relationship with Trump.

It also has emerged recently that Stephanie Clifford, took a lie detector test over similar claims of an affair with Donald Trump a decade ago. The lie detector test was done in the year 2011 and the examiner came out with the result that there was a 99 per cent probability she was telling the truth when she claimed to have had a sexual relationship with the future president. But White House has denied that there was a sexual relationship between Trump and Ms Clifford.

Recently a judge in New York has ruled out that a defamation case against Trump could go ahead. Judge Jennifer Schecter said, “No-one is above the law. A sitting president is not immune from being sued in federal court for unofficial acts.” The ruling means US President Donald Trump may have to give evidence, possibly by video conference call. Headaches for President Trump is on his way.
