Collabera Bets Big on Indian Staffing Industry

Collabera, a leading global innovator in the IT and Professional staffing industry headquartered at Basking Ridge, Bernards Township, New Jersey, US, is gearing up and strengthening its Indian operations with the expectations that by 2025, as much as 10 per cent of the overall workforce in India could be working in a flexible capacity through staffing companies.


Interestingly, nearly 20 percent of the software professionals in the developed countries, including the US, are contract staff, while the number is still about 5 percent in India. This is set to change and the number is expected to touch 20 percent in India in the next 5 years, feels Mehul Shah, Managing Director, India, Collabera. Analysts are of the view that the staffing and recruitment industry in India is expected to grow considerably by 2020, fuelled by need, on one hand, for a flexible workforce, and on the other, desire from the employees for a mobile, educational and flexible work arrangement.


Collabera’s focus in India is on medium to high-level recruitment in the IT staffing space with a current headcount of over 5000 resources. Founded in 1991, Collabera, at present has 15000 employees across the world with a revenue base of $600 million. With two proximity delivery centers in the US, two in India and one in the Philippines, Collabera serves clients in over 10 countries now.


The company has now lined up an aggressive plan to get a strong foothold into the growing Indian recruitment market. It is now foraying into the tier-II, tier-III market in the country. The company, which at present, has 500 certified trainers with over 300 courses, has also drawn up concrete plans of tying up with leading Indian universities. Initially, Collabera’s focus in the Indian market will be sectors like BFSI, Semi-Conductor, and Telecom sector.
