Duke of Sussex Meets Famous Primatologist Jane Goodall for the ‘Roots and Shoots’ Program

Famous primatologist and conservationist Jane Goodall met the Duke of Sussex in an unconventional manner on Tuesday. The Duke lightly bent down and then patted her on the head before the two of them hugged famously called the “chimp greeting.”

Jane Goodall is holding her environmental program called ‘Roots and Shoots’ at the palace. The program brings young people around the world together to work with their own communities to make the world a better place. A better place for people, animals and the environment!

Prince Harry participated in the program by meeting 26 students and by listening to presentations on endangered species, reducing plastic waste and embracing the wild.

Harry gave his own outputs to the program by saying, “As my grandmother The Queen once said, ‘Sometimes the world's problems are so big we think we can do little to help. On our own we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine.”

The Duke also thanked the group of students who are doing an amazing job to change and protect the world for future generations by working with their individual communities.

An Instagram post said, “His Royal Highness believes that people are at the heart of conservation and sustainability and that in order to succeed we need an inclusive, community-centred approach.”

Meghan Markle also met Jane when she visited Frogmore cottage last month to discuss the environmental program with Harry. The conservationist also had the lucky chance to meet and cuddle Baby Archie. According to her, the baby was very cute. Meghan confessed that she has been Jane’s biggest fan since childhood and always idolized her.

Jane Goodall also revealed that Harry’s interest in conservation increased after he himself became a dad. She said, “We talked about Roots and Shoots and I said, ‘Of course you’re interested now, you have a baby,’ and he said, ‘Of course!’ When you bring a child into the world, you have to worry about the future. If we don’t make change, we don’t have a future. It’s as simple as that.”
