A college student Yash Mittal went missing in Noida on Monday. He was a student of a Noida based university and son of a well to do businessman.
Yash was pursuing a Bachelor's degree in business administration at the Noida University. His body has now been recovered which was buried in a pit in Amroha.
An FIR has been lodged under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder).
Earlier, Yash’s father Deepak Mittal informed the police after he began receiving ransom calls. The callers were demanding Rs.6 crore from him for his son’s release.
CCTV footage revealed that Yash left the campus on Monday while he was speaking over the phone. Upon tracing Yash Mittal’s call records, it led the police to Yash’s friend, Rachit. It was Rachit who disclosed all the information regarding the murder. He also took the cops to the site where the victim was buried.
“On February 26, they called Yash to a field in Gajraula in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha (about 100 km away) for a party. He joined them soon after. During the party, a brawl broke out. They killed Yash and buried the body in the field. We recovered the body after Rachit identified the location, “ senior police officer Saad Miya Khan said.
Yash always hung out with Rachit, Shivam, Sushant and Shubham. Sources say that the friends began drinking and ultimately a brawl broke out. Money was said to be the topic that led to the argument between the youngsters.
Rachit, Shivam and Sushant have been arrested while Shubham is still on the run.
“We have arrested three accused after combing the area. One more accused, Shubham, is on the run. We will catch him soon,” the police officer added.
The police also added that the ransom calls were made to Mitall’s family to mislead them and portray the murder as an abduction case.
Yash’s parents broke down when their son's body was being dug up in the field where he was buried by his own friends.
