Gehraiyaan Releases Today on Amazon Prime Video #MovieReview

One of the most awaited films ‘Gehraiyaan’ has finally released on Amazon today. It is a modern day story that explores the complexities of human relationships in this fast paced society.

The movie begins on a refreshing note. You’ll get to savour delightful scenes, beach locations and the charming bond between the two couples.

Deepika Padukone effortlessly plays the character of Alisha; a 30 year old Yoga instructor. She’s in a relationship with an aspiring writer Karan played well by Dhairya Karwa.

Their relationship is clearly strained as Alisha is trying her best to pay up house bills and she’s also supporting her boyfriend who is struggling to make a comfortable place for himself in the writing industry.

She is also working on an app and is struggling to find investors. The stressors of everyday life have taken a toll on their relationship. Her life is emotionally empty and feels unseen in the relationship. Her unhappy childhood has left a deep impact on her psyche.

Alisha’s cousin Tia (Ananya Pandey) is engaged to Zain (Siddhant Chaturvedi). Unlike Alisha and Karan, this couple lives a high life style and seems to have it all.

Tia invites Alisha and Karan to their Alibaug beach house where surprisingly Alisha and Zain become close. Just like Deepika, Zain experienced a turbulent childhood which explains why the duo bonded quickly during the holiday.

While Shakun Batra’s movie flows, you’ll discover some surprising twists and turns.

Deepika’s acting skills are impeccable and natural. Like always she’ll meet your expectations. The talented actress takes you through a roller coaster of emotions.

Siddhant Chaturvedi’s character in the film is subtle as well as flirtatious. His performance could have been more powerful. His dialogue delivery during the intense scenes clearly needed more strength.

The story takes an unexpected twist midway. Towards the second half Ananya gets more exposure and exhibits her acting skill which is great. Dhairya for his part did well within the realm of his character.

The duration of the film is long. The second half takes a serious turn and you may tend to get disengaged as there is an overdose of negative circumstances that the couples face. The plot loses its strength somewhere in between.

Alisha’s life turns topsy turvy in a matter of minutes and so does everyone else’s. The film sends a message that life could be pretty unpredictable and relationships don’t always turn out as you would want them to. Sometimes it could take dark turns.
