Investigations Say Kamal Family Tragedy Has Been Ruled as Murder Suicide

Investigations on the death of an Indian origin couple and their daughter who were found dead in their sprawling $5 million Dover mansion on Thursday is going to come to a closure.

The bodies of Rakesh Kamal, 57, Teena Kamal, 54, and their daughter Arianna Kamal ,18, were discovered by their relative who had come to check on them after not hearing from them for two days.

They were the only family members who were living in the house at the time of the incident.

Michael Morrisey, Norfolk County District Attorney, said that a gun was found closest to the body of Rakesh Kamal. He had earlier described the case as a “domestic violence situation.”

After further investigations, autopsy results issued by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirm that Teena and her daughter Arianna were victims of homicide by gunshot.

Rakesh died from a “gunshot wound consistent with being self-inflicted”, although “he was not licensed to possess” the weapon.

The Kamal family was experiencing financial struggles leading up to the tragic incident. Their house was foreclosed in 2022 and the property was no longer on their name.

The couple ran a now-defunct education systems company called EduNova. The company was launched in 2016 and was dissolved in December 2021.

Teena was a long time volunteer and board member of the American Red Cross foundation of Massachusetts.

Arianna was an alumni of Milton Academy. “Aria was a sweet, smart, kind young woman who was just beginning to realise her full potential,” the Academy said.

Arianna, who was a brilliant student, was currently in her first year at Middlebury college; an arts school in Vermont. Her LinkedIn Profile states that she was studying neuroscience and was part of her college choir.

The district attorney said that the neighbourhood was “a nice neighbourhood, a safe community” and one of the richest in the state.
