James Cameron Will Not Be Making A Movie Based on The OceanGate Tragedy

Titanic director James Cameron has quashed all rumours that he would be making a film based on the OceanGate catastrophe.

James Cameron took to Twitter to clear the air on the topic when someone suggested that he had plans on working on the project.

“I don’t respond to offensive rumours in the media usually, but I need to now,” Cameron tweeted. “I’m NOT in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be.”

James Cameron has dived several times to the ‘Titanic’ wreckage and has touched the deepest point of the seabed. He is an expert in deep sea exploration; having made 33 dives to the Titanic wreckage site.

The Titan sub had set out towards the ‘Titanic’ wreckage however it went missing on June 18. The small sub imploded within deep waters of the Atlantic ocean killing all five onboard.

Hamish Harding, Shahzada Dawood, Suleman Dawood, Paul-Henri Nargeolet and Stockton Rush were the passengers onboard who lost their lives.

An international search was initiated after the sub went missing. The deaths of the five passengers were confirmed after the wreckage of the sub was discovered.

James Cameron had earlier stated that he found the design of the hull to be risky.

After the sub imploded, James Cameron gave numerous interviews where he discussed the negative aspects of the functioning of the submersible.

He drew similarities between the tragic sinking of the Titanic in 1912 and the unfortunate implosion of ‘Titan’ sub.
