Japan’s Billionaire Rules Twitter with Retweeting Offer

Retweet a post and earn hard cash, a declaration by the Japanese Billionaire Yusaku Maezawa made him rule Twitter for days and earned Yusaku Maezawa, the record of the Twitter account, with most retweeted tweets of all time. Yusaku Maezawa is a Japanese billionaire and founder of e-commerce company Zozotown. He is followed by more than 6 million followers on Twitter.

Yusaku Maezawa posted the message, “To participate, all you have to do is follow me and RT this tweet on the Twitter” and promised the first 100 winners, a chance to win 100 million Japanese yen, which is equivalent to about $920,800, if they retweet his post. His message has been retweeted for more than 5.6 million times. Maezawa also said that he would contact the winners by a direct message on the twitter.

Yusaku Maezawa also said that his promotion on Twitter was a gesture to show his gratitude to the people, after Zozotown sold 10 billion yen worth of merchandise during the New Year’s sale.

Twitter also confirmed that Maezawa post is now the most retweeted message on the platform and the tweet is now considered a contest or sweepstakes advertisement, which is allowed on the Twitter.

Maezawa is not only a high profile entrepreneur, but also an innovative creative explorer. He is also going to be the SpaceX’s first tourist for a trip around the moon. Last year during an unveiling at SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, California, Maezawa announced that he had bought seats on SpaceX’s inaugural flight, which is scheduled to embark in 2023 for about a week. Maezawa also said he would like to invite up to eight artists to join him on his journey to the moon, which will lead to the creation of artworks “to inspire the dreamer in all of us”.

Now with newly earned fame as the new champion, Yusaku Maezawa has broken the record of the former record holder Carter Wilkerson with most retweets. In 2017 the then 16-year Wilkerson, started off a viral attempt to get free chicken nuggets for a year from Wendy’s, fast food joint. Wilkerson’s tweet then earned more than 3.5 million retweets.

Yusaku Maezawa first came to limelight as the drummer in a punk band Switch Style, but rose to become a successful entrepreneur in the fashion world. He is believed to be the holder of the personal wealth, which is nearly $3 billion. But he spends most of his earning on art and creative ventures.
