A leopard has injured at least 15 people including 3 forest officials, women and children in Assam’s Jorhat since Monday morning.

The leopard targeted residents of the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI). 

Rain Forest Research Institute is located on the outskirts of Jorhat town closer to forests from where the leopard is suspected to have come from. 

Several videos are doing rounds on the internet that show the wild creature prowling in different locations. 

One video footage shows the animal prowling within the campus. 

In another video, the animal is seen jumping over a fence and attacking a four-wheeler. 

The leopard’s behaviour was said to be erratic. 

Officials are trying to rescue the animal and tranquillize it. 

All the residents have been advised to remain indoors and the injured are said to be stable in hospital.
