Maria Goretti Gets Candid About Career Sacrifices And Motherhood

Maria Goretti has spoken candidly about the personal sacrifices that came with stepping away from a successful television career to focus on raising her family. While she says becoming a full-time mother is a decision she has never regretted, she admits there are moments when she misses the sense of independence and fulfilment that came from earning her own income.

Speaking on The Aditi Govitrikar Show, the former MTV VJ reflected on leaving the entertainment industry after marrying actor Arshad Warsi. She shared that her career had brought not only financial stability but also recognition and appreciation, making the transition to a different phase of life both rewarding and challenging.

Goretti explained that motherhood was a conscious choice and one she embraced wholeheartedly. However, as her children have grown into teenagers, she occasionally finds herself questioning her role at home, especially during everyday parenting moments. Even so, she believes the years spent with her children were invaluable and says she cherishes that chapter of her life.

She also revealed that leaving television helped her better understand her own personality. Although she appeared outgoing and confident while hosting shows, Goretti realised much of that confidence stemmed from being in a professional setting. Away from the camera, she discovered she was naturally introverted and found it more difficult to build friendships.

The conversation also touched on Arshad Warsi's career journey. Goretti recalled how the family experienced both periods of immense success and difficult phases when the actor struggled to find the kind of roles he wanted. She said those experiences taught them not to become overly attached to fame or success, noting that public attention can change quickly.

According to Goretti, she encouraged Warsi to avoid accepting projects that did not align with his interests, even during challenging times. She praised him for remaining grounded and free of bitterness despite professional setbacks, adding that watching him navigate those years taught her important lessons about resilience and perspective.

Maria Goretti and Arshad Warsi first met in the early 1990s during a college dance competition, where Warsi was serving as a judge. The couple married in 1996 and are parents to two children.
