Singer Taylor Swift And Poet Emily Dickinson Are Related Says Ancestry

According to Ancestry.com, pop sensation Taylor Swift, and iconic poet Emily Dickinson, are related. On March 4, it was revealed that both the personalities descend from a seventeenth century English immigrant.

The English immigrant is Swift’s ninth great grandfather and Emily’s sixth great-grandfather. He was an early settler of Windsor, Connecticut.

Taylor Swift’s ancestors apparently “remained in Connecticut for six generations until her part of the family eventually settled in north-western Pennsylvania, where they married into the Swift family line.”

In line with the information, Emily Dickinson and Taylor Swift are sixth cousins.

Apparently, Taylor Swift knows about this, as she had mentioned the poet’s name in one of her speeches while accepting the ‘Songwriter Artist of the Decade’ award from the ‘Nashville Songwriters Association International.’

She released her ninth studio album ‘Evermore’ on December 10, 2020 which also happens to be Emily Dickinson’s birthday. Many Swifties believe that the name of this album too, was inspired by the poet. The title of the album has been drawn from the last line of the poem “One Sister have I in Our House.”

The last line of the poem reads: “From out the wide night's numbers — Sue forevermore!” Taylor’s next album is interestingly called, “The Tortured Poets Department” and is due in April.

Emily Dickinson is regarded as one of the most notable figures in American poetry. She developed a reputation of being a recluse. Even though she was a prolific writer, she gained fame posthumously.

Meanwhile, Taylor’s Eras Tour in Singapore has come to a close. Needless to say, the concert at the National Stadium was super successful.

Thousands of Swifties thronged the stadium in huge numbers. Taylor ditched all her customary stage outfits and opted for burgundy and green dresses. As per an ongoing Swiftie joke fans are referring to her tasselled Fearless outfit as the “gold noodle dress”.

We can confidently say that Taylor's musical influence is at an all time high and looks like there’s no stopping it.
