“Today’s annual International Women’s Day Doodle takes a journey through a series of firsts in women’s history—highlighting female pioneers who have challenged the status quo and paved the way in education, civil rights, science, art, and so much more. (sic)”, they added.

The doodle particularly pays homage to all those women who transcended barriers and had to “overcome obstacles to create a legacy. These women pioneers have opened up the doors for the women of today, who are in turn carrying their legacy forward facing their own set of challenges.

The woman behind this animation is Helene Leroux who is a French animator based in San Francisco.

Helen acknowledges that she has included a short clip of her animation profession in the Doodle.

She admits that she learned the art of drawing from her grandmother who was not allowed to pursue her dream professionally.

“I eventually became the first woman in my family to pursue art studies and create a profession from drawing”, she revealed.

“When I started, it was a field dominated by men, and I’m proud to see so many women animators and directors now”, she added.

International Women’s day is being celebrated world over today with the powerful theme #ChooseToChallenge.  The campaign emphasizes that we can choose to challenge gender bias and inequality. “From challenge comes change so let’s all #ChooseToChallenge”, reads the IWD campaign theme.
