Uber Eats on an Expansion Mode in India

It started its journey in 2014 as a small delivery pilot in Los Angeles and rolled out as a separate application in Toronto in December 2015. It never had to look back since then, so far. It is now a stand-alone app available in more than 200 cities across the world and India is no exception. In India, Uber Eats, the mobile app, was first launched in Mumbai, India, in May 2017. Nearly one year down the road, it is now present in Indian cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Jaipur and now in Kolkata. Uber Eats is truly on an expansion mode in India and many more cities are in the pipeline.

Mind you that the Uber Eats app is separate from the Uber app that people use to request a ride. The app has been developed specifically to make food delivery as seamless as possible, at the tap of a button.

Bhavik Rathod, head of Uber Eats India said that with some of the most popular restaurants on board with Uber Eats, the company promises consumers quick and reliable delivery so that they can enjoy their favorite food at the comfort of their own homes. With best in class technology and a robust delivery network, Uber Eats has already received a great response from consumers over the past 11 months. The company is committed to bring the same enthusiasm to all the cities it enters into and serve the best.

Uber Eats app will also allow customers to schedule a meal. If one wants to have dinner at 10, one can schedule it an hour or even a week ahead.

The app also offers customized drop-off within a certain radius. If you are in a park and you want your meal delivered at your home, you can just feed in the drop-off address and it will reach there. Some of the other features include tailored restaurant recommendations, where machine learning is used to suggest the customer's favorite eatery or a dish ordered often. There will be a filter for the right food such as vegetarian or quick bites. After delivery, the user can rate the restaurant and also each item. The company will also roll out a restaurant manager app soon and feed it with real-time data such as consumer feedback on meals, said Rathod.
