‘Elvis’ Biopic to be Screened Free in Ten American Cities in Honour of Presley’s Birthday

Elvis Presley’s biopic ‘Elvis’ will be screened for free in ten American cities on the occasion of the singer’s birthday on January 8. 

The King of Rock and Roll would’ve been 88. 

Warner Bros. has teamed up with Graceland regarding this project.

With this initiative the studio desires to honour the legendary pop singer of yesteryears. 

The movie will be screened in ten different cities for one day only as per Deadline. 

The confirmed cities that will screen Elvis on Jan. 8 include Atlanta (AMC Phipps Plaza), Chicago (AMC River East), Dallas (AMC NorthPark), Kansas City, KS (AMC Town Center), Los Angeles (AMC Burbank), New York City (Loews 34th Street), San Francisco (AMC Metreon), Toronto (Cineplex Scotiabank), and Vancouver (Cineplex Odeon International Village) and Graceland in Memphis. 

The screening will begin at 5 pm except for Graceland and LA where the screening will begin at 2 pm and 4 pm respectively. 

According to reports Austin Butler; the actor who played Elvis Presley in the movie, will be seen in a video introduction ahead of the screening. 

Directed by Baz Luhrmann, 'Elvis’ performed fairly well at the box office. 

Austin Butler received a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama category for his performance. 

His performance has been greatly appreciated by the Presley family as well. 

In a letter to Baz Luhrmann Elvis’s wife Priscilla Presley told what Elvis Presley would’ve felt about Austin’s performance: “My whole life I’ve had to put up with people impersonating my husband, and I don’t know how

that boy did it, but every move, every wink …if my husband was here, he’d say, ‘Hot damn, you are me.”

The biopic also features Tom Hanks  who plays Elvis’s controversial manager Colonel Tom Parker.
