Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 September 2026

This policy explains what Scrabbl collects when you read the site, why, who else is involved, and what you can ask us to do about it. Scrabbl is published by Infiflex Technologies Pvt Ltd, which is the data fiduciary (controller) for the information described here.

The short version

  • You can read Scrabbl without giving us your name or email address.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
  • Our pages use Google Analytics, Google AdSense and social embeds, which set their own cookies and receive your IP address.
  • You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it: info@scrabbl.com.

What we collect

When you simply read the site. Our servers keep standard logs: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, the referring page, and the time of the request. These logs let us serve pages, detect abuse and diagnose faults.

Cookies and local storage. We use cookies and your browser's local storage to keep your session, remember preferences (such as the news edition you choose), and to run the features described below. Some are set by us; others are set by third parties when their content loads.

When you contact us. If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply and, where it concerns a correction, keep a record of what was changed and why.

If you create an account or subscribe. We store the details you give us, such as your name and email address, to provide that service. We do not use them for anything else without asking you first.

Why we use it

  • To publish and deliver the site — serving pages, keeping them fast and secure, and preventing abuse.
  • To understand what readers find useful — aggregate statistics about which articles are read and how people arrive.
  • To fund the journalism — advertising displayed alongside our reporting.
  • To answer you — correspondence, corrections and complaints.

Where the law requires a legal basis (for example the GDPR for readers in the European Economic Area and the UK), we rely on our legitimate interest in publishing and securing the site, and on your consent for advertising and analytics cookies where consent is required. For readers in India, we process personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, for the purposes set out above.

Third parties on our pages

These services receive your IP address and may set their own cookies when their content loads. They are controllers of that data in their own right, and their own policies apply:

  • Google Analytics — audience measurement. Google's privacy policy.
  • Google AdSense — advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure ads. You can control this in My Ad Center.
  • Embedded posts and videos from Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), YouTube and LinkedIn, when an article includes them.
  • Google Cloud — our hosting and image storage provider.

We do not give any of these companies your name or email address.

Controlling cookies

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most offer a private mode that discards them when you close it. Blocking cookies from third parties stops most advertising and analytics tracking; the site will still work. Clearing your browser's local storage resets preferences such as your chosen edition.

How long we keep things

Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then discarded or aggregated. Correspondence is kept while it is relevant, and correction records are kept as part of our published record. Account details are kept until you ask us to delete them.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for a particular purpose. Write to info@scrabbl.com and we will respond within the period the applicable law allows. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to your data protection authority, or in India to the Data Protection Board.
