‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ Posters Released, Alia Bhatt Emerges as Mafia Queen!

Actress Alia Bhatt turns Mafia Queen for celebrated director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Here are the maiden posters released recently:

While the poster above projects Alia’s Gangubai as a matured woman, the one below depicts the character in her adolescent days.

‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is a biopic based on former investigative journalist S Hussain Zaidi’s best-selling book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’.  

The film will take us back to the 60s or pre-60s era and revolves around the life and times of a woman named Gangubai Kothewali, one of the most formidable women of then Mumbai. Owner of multiple brothels, Gangubai was the only woman in a similar business to drive a Black Bentley in those days.

It’s been implied, that Gangubai who originally belonged to Gujrat’s Kathiawad fled home with her lover, who eventually tricked her by selling her into prostitution.

After a couple of historicals, Bhansali’s take on this periodic tale involving such a powerful yet intriguing female persona, would definitely make it to the list of 2020’s most anticipated Hindi cinemas.
