“Men Can Cry” Says Gillette #ManEnough Campaign through the Impassioned True Story of a Soldier, Read Hrithik’s Message

Gillette India presented a more powerful angle in perceiving manliness in their latest advertising campaign #ManEnough. With the impassioned true story of Lt Col M K Sinha SM (retired) and his father, Gillete gives out this strong statement that “Men Can Cry”!

For generations, a belief has been passed down the generations, that ‘men don’t cry’. This archaic practice has been inculcated since early childhood, as crying is discerned as a sign of weakness amongst the men, rather, suppressing it by hanging a stoic face is considered an act of strength, male strength that is.

However, Gillette India attempts to break this barrier between the men and their emotional expression with an intensely uplifting advert. In an effort to reform this age-old misbelief, Gillette brings up the real-life experiences, agony, realizations of a father and son, both strong, both brave, both soldiers!

Lt Col M K Sinha SM, who was also raised following similar doctrines apparently wouldn’t have thought otherwise, unless and until a lethal bullet swatted through his jawline. Know the heartfelt tale from the horse’s mouth.

In a world full of products and its marketing campaigns promoting feminine agendas, Gillette’s refining and redefining manhood could be welcomed as a fresh change. It educates everyone of us, irrespective of gender, caste and creed that there is nothing wrong in shedding tears. There’s nothing wrong in showing what one actually feels. Boys can cry, even soldiers can cry, and still be #ManEnough.

This thought-provoking commercial is shared by Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan on his social handles, where the handsome artist affirms that he finds the earnest tears of emotion, liberating. The ‘Super 30’ actor agrees to the fact that there are selfish tears seeking attention, and often times the men choose to hold it back fearing unfavourable judgments.

Let us know your outlook towards this changing perception and the Gillette India campaign. It’s time we shave off the stereotypes, and that’s the best a man can get!
