The much talked about film ‘The Sky is Pink’ recently premiered at the 44th Toronto Film Festival on Saturday. As most of us are well aware that the film is based on the experiences of late motivational speaker and author- Aisha Chaudhary. The main characters in the film are Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar who play Aisha Chaudhary’s parents. Zaira and Rohit play the part of the couple’s children- Aisha and Ishaan.

Priyanka and Farhan made an impressive impact at the premiere and as per sources close to Pinkvilla, the theatre was reduced to tears. The movie also received a four-minute standing ovation which makes the movie worth waiting for. Priyanka adorned a grey and black frill dress while Farhan looked dapper in a grey suit during the premiere. The director of the movie Shonali Bose was present and giving Farhan company was his girlfriend Shibani Dandekar. Nick Jonas couldn’t make it to the premiere however he didn’t fail to congratulate wifey- Priyanka Chopra on social media.

This is how Shibani Dandekar described the most anticipated film:

‘The Sky Is Pink’- based on Aisha Chaudhary’s True Story

Aisha Chaudhary who succumbed at the age of 18 to her serious health condition is the author of the book ‘My Little Epiphanies.’ She was also a motivational speaker. Her impressive, as well as inspirational speeches on her life’s journey with ‘Pulmonary Fibrosis’, was not only touching albeit it gave others who are battling similar life-threatening diseases the courage to move on.

Aisha was born with an immune deficiency disorder. At the age of six months, she had to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, as a result of the transplant, she developed a side effect which caused the hardening of her lungs called ‘Pulmonary Fibrosis.’

The disease, however, didn’t stop her from pursuing her interests and passions. In one of her inspiring speeches, the brave soul said, “I can either choose to be happy and try to smile through all the difficult times or I can choose to be miserable and get overwhelmed by it all. Now it’s not that by being miserable that I am going to get any better. So, I may as well choose to be happy.”

The director of the film- Shonali Bose tragically lost her own son Ishan in an accident that involved an electric razor. In fact, it was Priyanka’s idea to use the nickname Ishlu in one of the scenes, which is the same name Shonali Bose called her son by. This was done in honor and remembrance of Shonali Bose’s late son.

We are sure that stars Priyanka and Farhan will leave no stone unturned to play the role of Aisha’s parents and according to Shibani’s post, Zaira and Rohit also brilliantly played their characters. For those who are eager to learn and discover Aisha Chaudhary’s journey, the movie hits screens on October 11.
