‘The White Tiger’ grabbed the number one spot followed by ‘Outside the Wire’ and ‘We Can Be Heroes’ which also stars Priyanka Chopra.
Sharing her excitement, Priyanka took to her Instagram stories on Tuesday and wrote, “So excited to see #TheWhiteTigerNetflix is the no.1 film on Netflix worldwide!! Thank you so much for all the support. Keep watching and let me know what you think.”
‘The White Tiger’ is based on Aravind Adiga’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel by the same name. The film is directed by Ramin Bahrani and stars Adarsh Gourav in the lead role. Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao are supporting stars in the film.
The movie has got amazing reviews and Adarsh’s role in particular, has been widely appreciated. Some viewers even said that the actors gave Oscar-winning performances.
The film revolves around a small town but ambitious boy Balram who is frustrated about the fact that the underclass of our society is subjugated deliberately by the upper class. He has to wriggle his way out of difficult situations to get himself out of poverty.
Though Adarsh Gourav may seem to be a new face, he is not new to the world of entertainment. He’s earlier acted in films like ‘Rukh’ and ‘Mom.’ In an interview with National Herald, Adarsh revealed that he had to work hard to get the character of ‘Balram’ right.
Looks like destiny too had a part to play in his success. He was a person who was not much into reading when he was a teenager but when his eyes fell upon ‘The White Tiger’ novel, he was hooked to it right from the start.
It was not stardom however but the idea of being in relevant cinema that attracted him to films. Fortunately, Adarsh has made his place in people’s hearts with this break-through role.
Priyanka Chopra and Rajkumar Rao’s performances have also been greatly appreciated by viewers.
