‘Thugs of Hindostan’ Star Aamir Khan Revealed a Lot about Himself on ‘Koffee with Karan’

In the recent episode of Koffee with Karan, Karan Johar welcomed ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ star Aamir Khan as his honorable guest. Khan graced the show for the third time. He earlier appeared in the show with wife Kiran Rao and his ‘Dangal’ co-stars, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh. During the interview, Aamir Khan candidly confessed that this time he’s quite nervous about his upcoming movie ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ which is going to hit the big screens on November 8. That’s because fans are so used to seeing his movies that send a social message, however, ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ is a “mainstream” flick. Aamir Khan plays Firangi Mullah in the movie and describing the character Khan said, "He is the kind of guy you love watching but you don't want him to be around since he cannot be trusted."

The ‘Dangal’ actor also opened up about his past relationship with ex-wife Reena Dutta. He revealed that the break up had been painful for both the parties, however, he’s glad that he has spent “16” years of his life with her. He literally grew up with her as they got married pretty early in life. Aamir Khan’s current wife Kiran Rao, however, shares a good equation with Reena Dutta and that’s because of their high levels of maturity and Khan had no part to play in it whatsoever.

Karan Johar didn’t miss the opportunity to bring up the much-debated #MeToo topic during the conversation. As expected of the actor who generally takes a stand on most social issues, Khan said that "Women have been facing such kind of exploitation from decades and in all walks of life. It's awful and I am glad that the much-needed clean-up happened," said Aamir. In fact, he was shocked to see the list of names popping up and these were people whom he knew professionally. He and Kiran did take a stand against the people whose names came up.

Idolizing Superstar Amitabh Bachchan

Aamir Khan also revealed how much he idolized Amitabh Bachchan. He recounted an old incident when he was shooting in Ooty for ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’. He said that when he came back to the hotel after shooting, the receptionist told him that Amitabh Bachchan had given him a call. Initially, Khan thought that somebody was playing a serious prank on him albeit in no time his doubts were cleared. Khan ultimately took the phone call and couldn’t have mistaken Bachchan’s unique, husky voice on the other side. In fact, Khan was so thrilled talking to Mr. Bachchan that he kept repeating “Yes Sir” to every question Bachchan posed to him. He joked that even if Bachchan would’ve asked him how the weather in Ooty was; Khan would’ve still replied: “Yes Sir!”

Aamir Khan who is otherwise known to shy away from media and limelight revealed quite a lot about himself while playing ‘Koffee shots with Karan’ and some of the stuff that he spilled was pretty shocking! He said that he has two-timed in a relationship, he has showered with his wife, lied to his better half and much more. It’s probably for the very first time that audiences have witnessed the actor candidly opening up to such an extent.  

Next, we had the gorgeous Malaika Arora take the center stage. She took over the rapid fire round. For the first time in fourteen years, Karan Johar chose to play the round alongside Aamir Khan. When Aamir was asked how he rated himself as an actor, husband and a father on a scale of 1 to 10, pat came the reply “7.” When asked if he was on a boat with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan and he had a chance to push only one person from the boat, who it would be? To this Khan replied that he would push Salman Khan saying “Bhai to kabhi doobenge nahin” (Bro will never ever sink). This catchy answer won Aamir Khan the much talked about gift-hamper.

‘Koffee with Karan’ ended on a good note with Johar declaring Aamir Khan as the “best actor” in business. Aamir Khan on his part wished everyone a very Happy Diwali and the show successfully concluded with Aamir signing the famed ‘Koffee with Karan’ mug. Now it’s left to be seen whether “Mr. Perfectionist” can create the same magic on November 8 with the release of one of his most anticipated movie- ‘Thugs of Hindostan.’
