10 Technologies That Are Changing The World

Since the beginning of the New Millennium, our world has changed and developed in ways we may never have foreseen. One major area which has been affected is the new technologies which are impacting so many areas of our lives. According to Entrepreneur, (entrepreneur.com/310204), ten of the more recent developments which are leading the way include Robotics, Transport, Medicine and even Currency.

Voice Assistants, like the Amazon Echo, Apple Homepod, and Alexa unit now mean that people no longer have to type in a search query on a keyboard, but can simply ask their voice assistant, which then responds with a verbal message to the enquirer. There are individual units for the home, but the technology is also included in almost all recent smartphones, tablets and computers so that the consumer can carry their assistant with them wherever they go.

The robotic assistants manufactured by Boston Dynamics and Knightscope, are largely geared towards military and security applications but could also be used in domestic applications.

Tesla, GM, and Volvo have all been involved in robotic, driver-less vehicles and whilst these have had some issues in the early stages, it is feasible to suggest that these vehicles will become more accepted in the mainstream rather than the exception.

In the world of medicine, we have a company called Organovo in the process of developing and building a 3D printer, which will allow them to create and print actual body parts and organs to order and this will have far-reaching beneficial results for those undergoing this new regenerative surgery.

Supplementing this is the advances made in gene-splicing technology which has the potential to permanently eliminate diseases from certain bloodlines by finding and removing mutated sections of DNA.

The mix of Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality indicate that while robotics take care of all, or most, of the manufacturing process, consumers will have more time to use and enjoy Virtual Reality programs, which will soon be included on their Apple iPhones, among others.

The increasing use of Quantum Computing, allowing computers to search and solve complex algorithms and data sets, essentially speeding up all processes, will become useful as Cryptocurrency software and programs are made more readily available and used by more people.

While these ‘Top Ten’ technologies are making a largely beneficial impact on our modern world, it leaves scope to wonder what other advances are being made which will surely follow these, and when we will begin to see the advent of these new technologies on the horizon.

No matter how you view technological progress, there can be no denying that it is not only here to stay, but is becoming more widely accepted as a normal part of our everyday lives and as such, we would be better to embrace the changes that impact our world than being left behind and struggling to catch up. The world of technology is fast moving, rapidly changing and now a permanent part of the world we live in.
