11 Ways Alexa Could Make Your Life Easier with ‘Remember This’

If you have just read the title and asked yourself “who the heck is Alexa?”, I think it's time you emerge from whatever cave you’ve been living in and get with the times. Alexa is Amazon’s Artificial Intelligence, voice recognition assistant known as “the brains” of Amazon’s smart speakers with built-in microphone, the Echo, and Echo Dot. For those already in love with all things Alexa related, get ready to fall in love all over again.

At the beginning of the month, Amazon unveiled the latest enhancement to Alexa’s capabilities and introduced the “Remember This” feature. Now available to U.S. users, “Remember This” is an amazing new function which enables Alexa to help you remember.

I’m sure everyone can use a little or in my case, a lot of help in the memory department, especially when it comes to recalling important dates, names, tasks, etc. With "Remember This," you simply ask Alexa to “remember” or “make a note” of important information, she then stores it to be recalled at a future time.

Using Alexa is quite simple. Similar to Alexa’s other features, to get her to remember, you simply ask for it. Here is an example of possible dialogue when engaging Alexa: if you need to remember your parents’ wedding anniversary say, “Alexa, remember my parents’ wedding anniversary is August 30th.” In response, Alexa will say, “Okay. I will remember that your parents’ wedding anniversary is August 30th.” Once you are ready to recall your parents’ wedding anniversary you ask, “Alexa, when is my parents’ wedding anniversary?” Alexa will then say, “This is what you told me: my parents’ wedding anniversary is August 30th”.
