13 Year Old Girl Kidnapped and Raped by Facebook Friend

A 13 year old girl from Mumbai was kidnapped and raped by a friend on Facebook. The accused remained in touch with the class VII student through social media. 

The girl was missing from her home on July 1st following which her mother lodged a complaint. The accused had taken the girl to Rajasthan by car and promised her marriage. 

The police soon received clues from the girl’s social media account. After receiving a tip off, the police carried raids in Jhalwad in Rajasthan and Rajgarh in Madhya Pradesh.  They arrested a 22-year-old who was the main accused.  There were four other accomplices as well. The girl has been rescued. 

On interrogation the accused revealed that he kidnapped the girl and took her to Rajasthan during the lockdown with the help of his aides. 

The accused allegedly raped the girl. The arrested have been charged for kidnapping and rape of a minor girl. Police also invoked sections of POCSO.
