Baazigar confronted many obstacles from postponement in the shoot because of public uproars, to not getting an actor to take up a negative job however as the movie finishes 25 years, the executive team Abbas Mustan are upbeat as it is respected outstandingly amongst other Bollywood spine chillers till date.

Released on November 12, 1993, Baazigar highlighted Shah Rukh as an ambitious young person. The spine-chiller, additionally is one of Kajol's greatest hits and Shilpa Shetty's first appearance turned into a blockbuster because of its plot and chartbuster music by Anu Malik.

As the film finishes 25 years, Mustan, said why Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor turned down the role and while they were shooting other movies.

He reviews the motion picture got an intense reaction over the globe, and they have seen it amid the film's US and UK screenings.

The mahurat of the film was done in December 1992, and the shoot was booked to begin soon, with the intention to wrap it up by January-February. The film hit a detour after collective uproars broke in various parts of the nation post the destruction of Babri Masjid on December 6.

"There was a strained minute because of mobs, individuals were terrified and were not going out. Yet, Mumbai is a city that bobs back more than ever. When things got cleared, work started immediately.

"We begun shooting at some point in late March and wrapped it by May-June and chose to release the movie on Diwali. The film was before set to hit theatres in June-July."

Baazigar chronicled the narrative of a young fellow with a feud against a business head honcho and how he plots to destroy the family.

Mustan, a passionate enthusiast of Manmohan Desai's film, was motivated by the filmmaking style of the famous executive to shape the core of Baazigar as a mother-child story with reprisal as a backdrop.

"In his movies, the character of a mother was of most extreme significance. We needed to have that component in our film. It is tied in with bringing the correct feeling for a film. On the off chance that the mother-child relationship is investigated and defended legitimately on screen then it unquestionably hits with a group of audience. On the off chance that a child is undergoing revenge for his mom then his every wrongdoing is excused.”

The producers felt veteran performing artist Rakhee Gulzar was the ideal decision to play an upset mother to Shah Rukh. It was Rakhee, who had advised the duo director to change the end of the film.

"So we had shot both the endings. We felt the closure where the police come and take SRK won't function as the enthusiastic chart of the character would not be passed on accurately."

Is it a Hollywood inspiration?

The film is said to be a redo of A Kiss Before Dying however Mustan demands just a single scene is taken from this 1991 Hollywood film. He said, "Our film is totally unique about this Hollywood motion picture. Just a single shot where a man diverts a young lady from the terrace is taken.” In the movie, there was a thrilling scene where Shah Rukh's character pushes Shilpa from the terrace and kills her right after their marriage. That film has no track of mother-child, which is there in the movie Baazigar.

Actor selection

Shah Rukh, now viewed as the King of Romance, played the notorious negative role. However, he was not the initial decision for the film. Mustan says, the makers had moved toward Salman, who by then was doing Sooraj Barjatya's film and felt the negative job probably won't work for his appearance on silver screen.

While, Anil Kapoor, as per Mustan, felt he will most likely be unable to convey the negative role. Mustan reviews, Shah Rukh, had come to meet makers at Venus organization for the portrayal of a movie, which he didn't care for, yet a possible experience with the chief couple, got him Baazigar.

Portraying SRK as a hero on-screen character, Mustan says, "He used to shoot one scene in four-five diverse ways. He has an immense range as a performer."

Giving a case of a scene, where SRK executes Resham Tipnis (Shilpa Shetty's companion), who had photos as proof to expose him, Mustan says, "We disclosed to him that he should keep the photo in his pocket. Shah Rukh rather thought of tearing the photograph and placing it in his mouth. There were things which he did unexpectedly."

Mustan says, it was SRK, who helped them in getting the necessary consent to shoot in Delhi, the main residence of the actor. The film was shot in Delhi and Mumbai, and the title track was recorded in Mauritius.

The makers had advised the executive team to consider throwing huge and famous women like Sridevi or Juhi Chawla however they felt a crisp matching was adept for the film.

"We felt if an artist or performing artist is greater than the film then it won't work," Mustan includes. When they went to Kajol, she was so vivacious and jolly. They felt she probably won't have the capacity to comprehend the content and the demand of her role. She demonstrated her development amid the shoot and stayed focused. Shilpa too buckled down as per Mustan.

There have been bits of gossip about the continuation of Baazigar. However, Mustan is upbeat that the film is significant even today and a Part 2 must be made in case they run over an extraordinary story. So, if the news of Bazigaar 2 comes up next, we won’t be too surprised.
