5 Officers from the Central Armed Force Loot a Businessman

In a recent bust, Kolkata police arrested eight individuals, out of which are 5 CISF officials, for pretending to be Income Tax officers and raiding the house of businesswomen. The incident happned near Chinar Park under Baguihati police station at around 2 AM. The Victim, Vinita Singh, was living with her daughter when the gang arrived under the pretext of an Income Tax Raid. "As soon as the door was opened, they entered the house and first took away the mobile phones of all the family members," claimed a source.

Moving to the Businesswomen’s room, they seized cash worth 3 lakhs and gold Jewelry worth 25 lakhs. The gang asked the elderly women to sign a document that contained the list of seized documents. However, they did not share a copy of the document, which raised concern. Later, the family realised that the document was entirely fabricated.

The suspicion grew when they entered the room of the Businessman’s second wife and left without taking anything. "It seemed suspicious to Vinita Singh, the daughter of the deceased construction businessman," claimed the police. After speaking with the Income Tax Department, she found that no official raid had been conducted, after which she approached the Baguihati Police Station.

Bidhannagar Police Station then started investigating the matter and recovered CCTV footage, based on which the car used by the robbers was identified. Tracing the number plates, the driver of the vehicle was apprehended. After a small interrogation, he informed the police about the entire plan, leading to the arrest of all individuals associated with the crime. The police arrested Amit Kumar Sing, CISF inspector, Laxmi Kumari, Ramu Saroj, and Janardhan Shah. Additionally, the second wife, a middleman, was also taken into custody.

The raid was executed because of an ongoing property dispute between Vinita and her stepmother, claimed a police source. "That is why Arati Singh, who is the stepmother of Vinita Singh and one of her relatives, contacted the CISF inspector and made a deal that whatever cash would be found in the raid at Vinita Singh's house would be shared on a 50-50 basis. That is why this fake IT raid was conducted.".

DCP Bidhannagar, Aishwarya Sagar, claimed that "While leaving the house, they told the family that there is no need to contact them as their department themselves would contact the family. After about four to five hours, it got suspicious. That is why the daughter of the businessman went to the Income Tax Department office. There, she found out that no such raid was conducted by the Income Tax Department. Following which, the lady filed a complaint, and we launched an investigation."
