96th Academy Awards 2024: Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer Walks Away with Most Number of Awards

One of the most anticipated award ceremonies, the 96th Oscars, took place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Jimmy Kimmel was the host of the star studded show. Other dynamic presenters at the show were Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Matthew McConaughey, and Regina King, among others.

Dressed in a suit, Ryan Gosling gave a brilliant performance to the tune of ‘I’m Just Ken.’ Famous guitarist and rockstar Slash shared the stage with Ryan. The audience was taken aback and entertained by the actor’s performance.

Another highlight of the show was actress Emma Stone's dress! The actress experienced a wardrobe malfunction when the back of her strapless Louis Vuitton dress split open, however the actress handled the situation with grace! During her speech she expressed, “My dress is broken. I think it happened during ‘I'm Just Ken.’ Add to this, Emma became completely emotional during her acceptance speech.

Billie Eilish and Jon Batiste gave amazing musical performances too.

Wrestler turned actor John Cena appeared on stage clothes free, highlighting the importance of costumes in films, much to the amusement of the audience! Many stars wore red pin badges to the Oscars symbolizing permanent cease-fire, release of captives and delivery of humanitarian aid to the captives in Gaza.

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer was undoubtedly the big winner with seven awards to its credit. It secured the prestigious Best Picture award outshining the large line of contenders. Cillian Murphy won the Best Actress Award for ‘Oppenheimer’ while Emma Stone secured the Best Actress Award for portraying Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos' film, Poor Things. Da'Vine Joy Randolph was named Best Supporting Actress for The Holdovers.

Robert Downey won the trophy for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Oppenheimer again. Indian film RRR was featured in a reel that honoured stunt performers while art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai was honoured in the In tributes segment Memoriam.
