A Frightening Text from An Uber Driver Sends A Passenger into A Tizzy
A Gurugram passenger was preparing to head to Anand Vihar station in the wee hours of the morning. Just before the Sedan Uber cab arrives, the passenger receives an upsetting message from the driver.
A resident of Gurugram shared a chilling experience while booking an Uber cab in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The Reddit user who goes by the name of ‘kushpyro1’ shared their experience on the online platform.
After texting the driver and getting the luggage, the user opened the Uber chat to recheck the OTP, only to read a strange message from the driver.
The user had to rush into the house immediately after reading the message from the Uber driver.
During the conversation between the two parties on the app, the Uber driver concluded with the words: “I want to go to kidnap you happily.”

“I don't know what impulse kicked into me (4am, barely any sleep and panic after reading text from a guy who is literally few seconds in front of me) but I thought to cancel the cab, when I began to cancel he immediately cancelled himself and I ran back into the house with my luggage. I happened to take a SS just a moment before it was cancelled (sic),” the user wrote.
“Now, I'm left wondering - what just happened? Is there somewhere I can report this incident? I'm genuinely scared, and unsure how to now proceed onto reaching my station (sic),” added the user.
The driver’s name was Chandan, and he was driving a Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
The Reddit user’s post has garnered mixed reactions.
Many users feel that it was a typing error which probably got auto corrected.
One user said, “Drop would have got autocorrected to “kidnap.”
Another user wrote, “Feels like translation mishap or autocorrect. Coz the sentence does not seem to make any sense at all.”
A third person commented, “Believe he was using hindi keyboard which was translating it for you some words went south and you got that text.”
A fourth individual explained, “To the people saying that it is auto-translated. I have checked around 8+ native language queries to English and nothing translates to “kidnap” except the word “apaharan.”
We are not sure if the word 'kidnap' was a typo or if the taxi driver intentionally typed it. That being said, it is unsettling to receive such a scary text during the early hours of the morning from an unknown driver. The experience could leave someone feeling scared and panicky for days.
We hope that the passenger gets clarity on the puzzling situation at the earliest.
