A Man in China Died after Taking Only 1-Day off in His 104 Working Days

Professional work has changed the habits and the people work daily resulting in poor health conditions and significant health ailments. In a shocking incident, A Chinese man died after taking only 1 day rest in his 104-day tenure. The Man named A’bao succumbed to a Pneumococcal infection leading to his death. The man worked as a painter and was under the contract of a company based out of China, read the South China Morning Post. The man joined the contract in last year February and was supposed to end in January this year,

Soon after signing the contract, A’bao was given a task the very next day near the Chinese Province of Zhejiang. He pulled off his working schedule for a stretch of 104 days without taking any leaves from February to May. April 6th marked his day off, only to realize he was feeling extremely sick. Upon the deterioration of his health, his colleagues rushed him to the hospital

The family of A’bao filed a lawsuit against the company where they mentioned utter negligence as the reason for his death. However, the company denied their involvement as his death was out of the work timing. Instead, the company directed the fault at A’bao as his health was already poor.

The primary reason identified behind his death was multiple organ failure which resulted because of poor immune systems. The court dismissed the case by highlighting the fault of the company as the Chinese law states 8 hours of working per day, cumulated to 44 hours of work per week. The contractor company had breached the law for which they were held responsible. The family of the deceased was given a compensation of 400,000 YUAN.
