Actor Chadwick Boseman’s Last Tweet Becomes the Most Liked Tweet

It was confirmed on Sunday that the tweet dedicated to ‘Black Panther’ star Chadwick Boseman by his team was the best tweet ever on twitter. 

Chadwick Boseman, 43, passed away due to complications related to colon cancer on August 28 with his family and his wife by his side. 

The star never spoke publicly about his cancer diagnosis. His death has been compared to the unexpected sudden deaths of other black celebs like Kobe Bryant and Naya Rivera.

Following the announcement of his death, many prominent personalities took to social media platforms to share their tributes. American leader Barack Obama said, “To be young, gifted, and Black; to use that power to give them heroes to look up to; to do it all while in pain – what a use of his years.”

Chadwick got his first role in a film in 2013 called ‘42’ where he portrayed the role of baseball star Jackie Robinson. His acting was so authentic that the baseball star’s wife said that it was like seeing her husband again. 

He played American Singer James Brown in ‘Get on Up’ where he did his own dancing however it was ‘Black Panther’ that made him a culture hero in 2018. It became the highest grossing film that year. 

He reprised the role in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: End Game’ that became highest grossing films in 2018 and 2019 respectively. That said, who knew that he was battling cancer and was filming his scenes between surgeries and chemotherapy sessions.  He had been battling cancer since 2016. 

His death came as a shock as most of his fans did not know he was sick. Like everything else, he kept his illness a secret as he was a private person. 

Fans however became worried about him when he posted a video in April in which he spoke about an initiative called ‘Operation 42’ which aims to help hospitals that cater to the needs of African-American communities. The initiative would also honour baseball legend Jackie Robinson whose role he played in the biopic ‘42’

More than the initiative however fans were concerned about Chad looking extremely thin. One user commented, “Are you ok?” Now, we know the truth that he was indeed suffering. 

The talented actor who inspired and entertained his fans through his classic movies will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his fans, family, colleagues and friends. May he rest in peace…
