Actress Celina Jaitley Moves Court Seeking Freedom for Brother Held in UAE
Actor Celina Jaitley has moved the Delhi High Court seeking legal and medical assistance for her brother, Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly, who has been detained in the UAE since 2024.

In her plea, she requested the court to direct Indian authorities to provide her brother with legal and medical assistance.
A bench of Justice Sachin Datta heard Jaitley’s plea, which sought legal aid, medical support, and permission to communicate with her brother, as she is his “sole surviving immediate blood relative.”
The court has issued a notice to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), directing it to file a status report within four weeks. The next hearing is scheduled for December 4.
Her brother has reportedly been detained in the UAE for over 14 months. Celina claimed in her plea that he was illegally abducted and detained in September 2024.
On Monday, the Centre’s counsel Nidhi Raman informed the Delhi High Court that Major Jaitly has been arrested in connection with “a case”, though not much is known about its details. Raman also stated that he has been granted consular access in the UAE.
Major Jaitly had served in the Indian Army and on a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. He left the armed forces and has been residing in the UAE since 2016. He was reportedly employed with the MATITI Group, a company engaged in trading, consultancy, and risk management services.
Celina Jaitley also shared the development on Instagram, posting a picture with her brother and writing: “Standing for a Soldier: A Ray of Hope from the Delhi High Court in the Case of Major (Retd.) Vikrant Kumar Jaitly.”
