Actress Lara Dutta’s Transformation in ‘BellBottom’ Surprises Fans
The actress dropped a big surprise as Lara is completely unrecognizable in the new get-up. Adorning a sari, sporting a short-hair cut and wearing a serious expression.
The trailer of ‘BellBottom’ is out. The trailer launch of the film also took place in the presence of media personnel and the team members of the spy thriller film.
Guests at the event however couldn’t figure out Lara Dutta’s character. At the trailer launch, Lara asked the media to guess her role in the film.
She said, “If anyone is able to guess, then I will take all their family members free to the theatres.”
Lara finally disclosed that she’s playing the role of iconic leader Indira Gandhi.

At the trailer launch Lara said, “Okay, so you did see me in the trailer. I'm playing Mrs Indira Gandhi in the film. That's me. All it took was a call and they said that Lara this film is being made and we are casting for Indira Gandhi's role. That is all it took, before I even heard the script. But yes, of course, there is a great responsibility when you're portraying somebody who is an iconic figure like her.”
The actress acknowledged that it was a challenge to get the body language of the character right.
BellBottom is directed by Ranjit M Tewari and produced by Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh and Nikkhil Advani.
The film stars Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi in key roles.
The film is inspired by the true hijacking events such as the 1984 Indian Airlines Airbus A300 hijacking and operation blue star which took place during Indira Gandhi’s tenure.
At the trailer launch Akshay Kumar requested fans to turn up at theatres by following safety precautions and guidelines laid down by the government.
“It’s been two years since I watched anything on the big screen. We have just been watching things on the TV. There is a different joy to eating food at a restaurant. How long will you keep getting home delivery?” Akshay spoke in context with films that were bound to release digitally due to the corona situation.
The trailer of ‘BellBottom’ begins with a hijacking scene. PM Gandhi is seen talking to her advisors concerning the situation who refer her to Akshay Kumar’s character. He seems to be a multi-talented Research and Analysis Wing agent and goes by the code name ‘BellBottom.’ His prime mission is to rescue the victims from the Hijacking event.
The film promises to take us through a roller-coaster ride and an adventurous hijacking situation filled with twists and turns. The operation and the rescuing scenes appear captivating.
BellBottom hits theatres on August 19.
