Actress Samantha Prabhu has been bestowed with the ‘Woman of the Year in Indian Cinema’ award at the IIFA Utsavam 2024 event in Abu Dhabi.
IIFA Utsavam, held on Friday, celebrates the southern film industries such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Fans were ecstatic to see their favourite star receive the award by popular actor Vicky Kaushal. The actress looked stunning in a shimmery green ensemble as she went up the stage to receive the award.
The actress was a model before branching into the Southern film industry. She has primarily acted in Tamil and Telugu movies for the past fourteen years.
The back-to-back hit movies prompted Rediff to label her as “the most sought-after actress in the Telugu film industry” in 2014. Her versatility as an actress has been proven through her acting in films of different genres.
Since Samantha wanted to break away from the “bubbly girl” image she garnered in South Indian films, she took up the role of ‘Raji’, a woman with a dark character in The Family Man: Season 2. The actress’ popularity skyrocketed as she portrayed the weather-beaten soldier.
The actress has been busy lately with the promotions of her upcoming series Citadel: Honey Bunny. She was in London for the premiere of the series. She and Varun Dhawan will portray the role of the spies.
