After being Born Six Weeks Premature, Rare Identical Triplets Reach Home

Ron, Elkanah and Abishai Choge are rare identical triplets who have been born six weeks premature. They’ve  been born to parents Caleb and Nicole Choge at the Truman Medical Center, last month in Kansas city, Missouri. According to Dr. Josh Petrikin, the chances of having identical triplets was one in a million. Though the odds were against the couple, Nicole successfully gave birth to the young  triplets.

The miracle boys

Ron, Elkanah and Abishai weighed 3.4 pounds and 4.5 pounds respectively after they were born. Nicole had the option of not having a C- Section. The young boys spent the first two weeks in the neo-natal intensive care unit though. The young warriors surprised the doctors by their fast development.

Dr. Josh Petrikin stated that by coming out early, the boys were at a risk of all complications. He told InsideEdition.com “These boys don’t seem to realize that and are doing better than expected for their gestational age.”

While leaving the hospital, Caleb joked that he and his wife Nicole were unable to distinguish between their sons. Ron is about a pound smaller in size when compared to his brothers. The other two were identified by their arm bands provided by the hospital.

Caleb said “My mind as the dad was very excited. My first thought is, “Our car doesn't fit. I need a bigger car.” He also stated “We were hoping for a second child, I prayed, my wife prayed and our son Corban prayed. God answered all three of our prayers."

The couple already have a two year old son and were living in Kenya. Nicole moved to Kansas city to be with her parents, when she fell pregnant. At first she was informed that she was going to have twins, however later scans revealed that she will be having triplets.

Support from community

Meanwhile the new parents have received support from their local community and even from people whom they don’t know so closely. A GoFundme page has been set up by a family friend to support the new parents. They’ve raised over $2,000 so far. A person by the name of Rachel Myers wrote on the site, “There are three more minds to teach, three more hearts to encourage, three times as many laughs to be had, and three additional mouths to feed.” Currently, Caleb is applying for immigration to start work in the United States and reunite with his family and his ‘miracle boys.’
