Air India Delhi Bound Flight Diverted Back to US as Washroom Clogged

Air India one of the biggest airlines is currently facing downtime because of issues in operations. In recent news, the airline had to divert the flight back to the US after the toilets of the flight clogged mid-air. The flight was traveling from Chicago to Delhi and passengers had to suffer in the mid-air because of clogged washrooms. The flight landed in Mumbai safely post which the inspections were carried out.

After the flight returned for inspection, the passengers were deboarded and an alternative flight was arranged in no time which flew back with the passengers. "AI126 operating Chicago to Delhi on 6 March 2025 air-returned to Chicago due to a technical issue. Upon landing in Chicago, all passengers and crew disembarked normally and were provided with accommodation to minimize inconvenience," claimed one of the spokespersons.

The Spokesperson also confirmed that the refunds were given straight away and new arrangements were also made in no time so that customers could travel at ease and save time. "Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination. In addition, full refunds on cancellations and complimentary rescheduling are also being offered to passengers if opted for them. At Air India, the safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew remain top priority,"

Passengers had to wait for 10 hours before the new flight could be arranged because of inoperable toilets. The flight had close to 13 toilets for use and out of all only one toilet was located in Business class which needed to be used by more than 300 passengers. Unavailability of the washroom was extremely challenging for which the flight was diverted and it returned to Chicago.

The incident happned after 5 hours of takeoff and mid-air there was very minimal support from the crews and expertise available. The passengers had to hurry to get their flights rescheduled and refunded so that they could carry on with the further journey. A few days back, a patient collapsed near the counter at IGI airport because the airliner failed to provide a wheelchair to an old lady. This sparked concern over social media. The passenger was accompanied by her granddaughter who took to X to narrate her ordeal. Both incidents created immense panic among passengers who were taking Air India flights. The Airliner was grounded for a long time post which it resumed its services. Air India has been in the news after suffering a tremendous loss in the market however, it is slowly becoming the leader. However, because of ongoing cases and operational inefficiencies, the airliner is still be looked down.
