Al Pacino And Former Miss India Manasvi Mamgai Meet Pope Leo XIV in Historic Vatican Visit
Hollywood legend Al Pacino, Indian-origin producer and former Miss India Manasvi Mamgai, and Italian producer Andrea Iervolino met Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican.
In a rare and symbolic encounter at the Vatican, Hollywood legend Al Pacino, Indian-origin producer and former Miss India Manasvi Mamgai, and Italian producer Andrea Iervolino met Pope Leo XIV in what is being described as a historic and spiritually resonant audience.
The meeting, which took place in Vatican City, marked the first officially documented audience between an American pontiff and a Hollywood film crew making it a milestone in the intersection of cinema, culture, and faith.
Manasvi Mamgai, who appeared in a long black dress paired with a double-breasted blazer, reflected on the significance of the moment. “Meeting His Holiness was truly surreal. As an Indian-origin producer, standing alongside Al Pacino in Vatican City was a moment I’ll never forget. Receiving a blessing before starting this film felt like a divine sign,” she said.
This marked Pacino’s first-ever meeting with a Pope, and Mamgai became one of the first producers of Indian origin to receive such an honor.
The meeting took place just before filming resumes for Captivated, a high-stakes crime thriller featuring Al Pacino and Katie Holmes. The movie is being co-produced by Manasvi Mamgai through her production house, 32RED Entertainment, in collaboration with an international team.
Additionally, Mamgai is producing an ambitious biopic on the Maserati family, featuring a powerhouse cast including Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, and Andy Garcia. Both films are being developed in Rome, further cementing the city’s status as a growing hub for international cinema.

In a statement to Deadline, a spokesperson described the encounter as “a moment of profound spiritual and cultural inspiration, centered around shared values that lie at the heart of both the Catholic Church and the film: family unity, love, compassion, and the importance of contributing to the common good.”
As Captivated moves back into production, the symbolic blessing from Pope Leo XIV seems to have added a deeper spiritual dimension to what is shaping up to be one of the year's most anticipated cinematic projects.
