Aliya Fakhri, Sister of Movie Actress Nargis Fakhri, Faces Charges of Murdering Her Ex-Boyfriend

Aliya Fakhri, the sister of actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested on alleged charges of murdering her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs.

She “deliberately” set a two storey garage on fire which led to the death of her 35 year old boyfriend and his friend Anastasia Ettienne, 33, in New York’s Queens, said Melinda Katz, District Attorney, in a press release.

She arrived at the garage early morning on November 2 and yelled, “You're all going to die today.”

Edward, who lived upstairs, was sleeping during the incident.

According to the press release, a witness came out hearing her voice and saw the building on fire.

Anastasia Ettienne ran down on being alerted, however, she ran back upstairs to save Edward’s life. Unfortunately, they couldn’t survive due to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries

The release further said: “According to the charges and investigation, on November 2, Fakhri arrived at the front door of a two-story detached garage behind 172-27 91st Avenue at around 6:20 a.m. and yelled upstairs to 35-year-old victim Edward Jacobs, ‘You’re all going to die today.’ Soon after, a witness who was inside the property came downstairs and discovered that the building was on fire. Ettienne was alerted to the fire and went downstairs briefly. The woman then returned upstairs in an attempt to save Jacobs, who was sleeping. The building became engulfed with flames and neither Jacobs nor Ettienne could escape.”

Aliya Fakhri stays in Parsons Boulevard in Queens.

She has been indicted by a grand jury on four counts of murder in the first degree, four counts of murder in the second degree and one count each of arson in the first degree and arson in the second degree, the release said.

If she is found guilty, she could face life in prison.

The mother was in disbelief that her daughter was capable of such an act. She revealed that her daughter struggled with opioid addiction after a dental mishap. She believes that the addiction could have led to the crime, according to an NDTV report.
