Amber Heard Takes to The Witness Stand in The Amber-Depp Defamation Case

In a twist of events in the high-profile Hollywood trial, Amber Heard has taken charge and revealed her side of the story in the court.

Amber Heard alternated between staying calm and crying while speaking in the court. She couldn’t hold her tears back when she revealed that Johnny Depp physically abused her while they were together.

The actress said that the two of them shared a “magical” relationship until it turned violent.

“When it was good, it was so good,” Amber said.  “I'd never felt love like that. I felt like he recognised me and I recognised him.”

However, he would become “this other thing.”

"This other thing was awful," she adds. “It would come out and take over and you couldn't see the Johnny I loved.”

The actress expressed that one day when she asked him what was written on one of his faded tattoos he said, “Wino.” It was a tattoo dedicated to actress Winona Ryder while they were in a relationship. She laughed at his reply thinking it was a joke.

He again slapped her twice and said, “you think it’s funny b***h?”

Describing another incident she said that he backhanded her while they were arguing about alleged affairs. And since he wears a lot of rings she felt that her lip went into her teeth. “I remember feeling like my lip went into my teeth. It got a little blood on the wall”, she said.

Amber revealed that Depp had assaulted her several times especially when he was drunk or on drugs.

There would be fights where he would explode, disappear and come back again.

"He'd come back clean and sober and he'd be extra nice and extra apologetic and we'd be good again," she added.

After many similar violent incidents the actress was in a state of conflict by mid 2013.

Earlier in his testimony, Johnny denied all allegations that he was violent in the relationship. “I never struck Ms Heard in that way, nor have I struck any woman in my life.”

He also said that she had a need for conflict and violence. "It could begin with a slap. It could begin with throwing a TV remote at my head. It could be throwing a glass of wine in my face”, he said.

Johnny and Amber met on the sets of Rum Diary and tied the knot in 2015 and split in 2017. The 58 year old actor filed a suit against the 36 year old actress for writing an op-ed in The Washington Post in December 2018 where she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse.

She did not use Johnny Depp’s name in the article however he sued her for implying that he was the domestic abuser and as it derailed his career. Amber is countersuing him and the trial may continue for another month.
