Amitabh Bachchan Responds to the Accusations of Insulting Maratha Ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji, #BoycottKBC Trending
Big B is accused of insulting Maratha emperor Shivaji by not using any salutation before his name, whereas he referred to the Mughal ruler Aurangzeeb as ‘Samrat’. Netizens demand #BoycottKBC.
Recently, the Big B of Bollywood has taken Twitter by storm for two reasons. One, for completing his 50 years in Indian cinema, and two, for being accused of insulting Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji.
While on one hand love and wishes had been outpouring all over, on the other, the netizens demanded boycotting India’s one of the most favourite television shows ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
On Thursday’s episode from the 11th season of this rewarding quiz show, its host Amitabh Bachchan asked a question to one contestant, “Which of these rulers was the contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb?” Its four options were, Maharana Pratap, Rana Sanga, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Chhatrapati Shivaji.

This is painful.... and shameful too. This is what we are lacking, Chatrapati Shivaji did so much and we cant even respect his work , what coming generation going to learn from this? pic.twitter.com/ZWUIkqypzA pic.twitter.com/3vi1XPu1CI
This question from the Indian history hurt the sentiments several Indian residents, as Senior Bachchan used the salutation ‘Samrat’ before Mughal ruler Aurangzeeb’s name, but nothing to address Maratha Monarch Chhatrapati Shivaji.
Rage and protests hit the Twitter shore with the #BoycottKBC moving up on trends. In fact, the Twitterati went so angry that they kept on insisting that the veteran actor must apologise for his act.
Here’s how the netizens reacted:
Butcher Aurangzeb is Mughal "Samrat" for them but Shivaji is not "Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj" Shame on you guys. #Boycott_KBC_SonyTv https://t.co/WWALjbkeH3
