According to Numbeo’s 2025 Safety Index, Andorra is the safest country in the world.

Andorra, a small tiny country nestled between Spain and France, proudly claimed the first position. It got an impressive score of 84.7.

Officially called the Principality of Andorra, it is a three-hour drive from Barcelona.

The country is headed by two co-princes: the President of France and the Bishop of Urgell. However, the current Prime Minister takes care of the day-to-day activities. According to travel buffs, Andorra is a place blessed with natural beauty and rich history.

The UAE is the second safest city in the world. Qatar has secured the third spot while Taiwan is in the fourth position.

India ranks as the 66th safest country in the world with a safety index score of 55.7, while Pakistan ranks 65th with a safety index score of 56.3. The United States of America holds the 89th position.

The survey report has been compiled by the Serbian crowdsourced data platform Numbeo. It rated 146 nations based on the overall level of crime in the country.

The survey took into consideration factors such as vandalism, sexual offences, assault, “mugging, robbery, car theft, physical attacks by strangers, harassment in public places, and discrimination based on factors like skin color, ethnicity, gender or religion”, and how safe they felt while walking in the night.

Below are the top twenty safest countries in the world.

  6. Isle of Man – 79.0
  7. Hong Kong – 78.5
  8. Armenia – 77.9

  11.  Monaco – 76.7
  12.  Estonia – 76.3
  13.  Slovenia – 76.2
  14.  Saudi Arabia – 76.1
  15.  China – 76.0

In contrast, Venezuela is the most unsafe city in the world with an index score of 19.3. Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, Haiti, and South Africa have the least index scores making these countries unsafe. The data collected for the rankings is “derived from surveys conducted by visitors” to their website.
