Ant Man and the Wasp - The Next Big Thing in the Marvel Timeline

Ant-Man and the Wasp is a story that shares with you those small things that are as important as the bigger things in life. When Hollywood is busy flaunting all the biggie stuffs, this movie showed something different. Just like every Marvel movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp is another big budget movie that fans are looking forward to, for some action-packed moments. Fans are having great expectations seeing some more superbly articulated special effects. The director is hoping for an opening of $11million and some sources say that it might actually shoot to $13million+.

For some, this latest Marvel film seemed like a strange thing after Avengers: Infinity War released in April, this year. But if you are a superhero fan and looking for a fun palate over super big actions then this movie is a must watch.

To begin with, this movie is not going completely out of the league after Infinity War. Scott's trip to Germany in Captain America: Civil War clearly meant that the Sokovia Accords were violated. The punishment to which he was under house arrest. Ant-Man and the Wasp begins from that very last chord. Hank and Hope are in their endeavors of rescuing Janet. Quantum Realm has captured Janet for three decades now and the movie involves the rescue. In the trailer, you will see an emotional communication between Hope and her father. For this rescue, they need the help of Scott as they believe that if someone can help in the rescue game then that is none other than the Ant-Man.

Character sketches

Some funny moments will give you a good laugh. Especially at the scene where you will find the huge ant is having a moment of a lifetime as he is seen beating the drums, relaxing over the sofa wearing the ankle monitor. The other interesting thing you will get to see is the lab of Hank and Hope. The father-daughter pair lives and working in a lab that’s completely portable. There’s a handle which needs to be operated and immediately it turns into a suitcase and very conveniently can be carried while rolling it down the street. There’s Sonny who is plotting against getting the lab robbed. The other villain is Ava who is basically a Ghost. She is translucent in form as her molecules are not connected.

Eva as the Wasp has more to do rather than playing the superhero (technically the superheroine) character. When we are facing such a confusion whether to call it a superhero character or not, she had a tough time giving the right message throughout the movie. The fight sequences were imbibed with elegance and grace to differentiate the fact that a woman moves differently from a man and does not need modification but sheer acceptance and hold of a character.

Some critics took the Wasp character to point out that’s what marred the essence of the movie. The director of the movie was quite apprehensive that such things could come up while he was trying to shoo off the common and mainstream notions of superhero portrayals. At the end of the day, Marvel remains an inspiration to all irrespective of gender prejudices.

Some goofy moments

In the movie, the cars have been seen zooming in and out while moving swiftly over the streets of San Francisco. Another scene which was really fun to watch was the chase. In this movie, you will get to see Scott makes his way to save Janet from Quantum Realm. The evading will involve a new kind of theory which is called Microverse. This is a theory of eternity where the concept of time and space becomes irrelevant and the entire world shrinks to the concept of eternity.

There’s a scene where it is seen that Scott and his group of burglar friends runs a security company. The name of the company is X-Con Security and the leader of the team is Luis who happens to be an old friend of Scott whom he met in prison. In another scene, you will find Scott is playfully taking the size game and turns into the medium size. The intention here was to sneak into his daughter’s school. The scene showed the Scott is taking out something from his daughter’s backpack.

The scene between father-daughter and Janet could turn into a pretty emotional scene if the words matched with the person speaking. Getting confused, right? In this scene, the words and expression were of Janet while the one speaking was Scott. Janet had placed an antenna in Scott’s head with which he was able to express Janet’s thoughts to Hank and Hope. The scene did not turn into an emotional overdose but rather became one of the most hilarious scenes of the movie.

The movie making

Not a surprise for a Marvel movie, the CGI, and the special effects are superbly handled. The screenplay responsibility was undertaken by 4 writers and that included the famous Erick Sommers and Chris McKenna who had played their role superbly while writing for Spiderman: Homecoming. The director, Peyton Reed did a decent job over this sequel just like the first one. The concept of getting big and small is not new for all generations though. Some of the Alice fans expressed that they are disappointed as they complain that they have seen similar transformations and for them, such a thing done in a new way for Ant-Man and the Wasp is not that exciting.
