Apple Unveils Bold New Era with Liquid Glass and iPadOS Multitasking at WWDC 2025

Apple’s WWDC 2025 keynote was nothing short of exhilarating, unveiling a transformative set of updates across its ecosystem. The showstopper? Liquid Glass translucent design overhaul set to triple across IOS 26, macOS Tahoe, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26. Sleek and fluid, the new interface reimagines how users interact with devices by emphasizing clarity, movement, and contextual responsiveness.

Among the crowd-pleasers, iPadOS 26 made a splash. With the introduction of Windowing, Menu Bar, and Pointer controls, staples of the macOS environment-Apple finally nudges the iPad closer to being a legitimate multitasking powerhouse. It is not just a cosmetic update; it is an evolution that makes iPads feel closer to full-fledged computers. The ability to resize app windows, tile them, and toggle between tasks makes the workflow seamless and more ergonomic.

IOS 26: A Fresh Chapter

The Liquid Glass design also adorns iOS 26, extending its elegant and ethereal aesthetics to iPhones. From iPhone 16e to the iPhone SE (2nd-gen), users can expect to receive this update, while the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup will debut with iOS 26 pre-installed.

Alan Dye, Apple’s VP of Human Interface, remarked, “This is the most significant design shift since iOS 7,” drawing a parallel to the Retina-era revolution. The updated visuals now influence everything, from the Lock Screen to app icons, blending design with motion, tactility, and personalization. Even the clock adapts to background photos, enhancing immersion.

Functionality has not been sidelined. iOS 26 introduces call screening, spam filters, Hold Assist, and Group Message Polls, alongside navigation enriched by Liquid Glass dynamics.

These tweaks elevate both everyday usability and aesthetic charm.

Liquid Glass: More Than Just a Pretty Face

Apple dubbed this phase “the next chapter in software design.” While visually dazzling, the adaptive translucency of Liquid Glass is not mere flair; it’s functional. It syncs with light and dark modes, reshapes controls and buttons, and introduces organic motion that spotlights content. The meticulous detailing, from sliders and switches to sidebars and toolbars, is both artistic and user-centric.

For developers, refreshed APIs for SwiftUI, UIKit, and AppKit enable app redesigns that harness Liquid Glass’s potential. This ushers in a creative renaissance for app development across Apple platforms.

iPadOS 26: Redefining Productivity

Perhaps the most significant transformation came with iPadOS 13.4. The new windowing interface, dynamic menu bar, and Mac-like pointer system break barriers. Apps still open full-screen but can now be resized and rearranged—perfect for dexterous multitasking. File management has been streamlined, and UI efficiency is prioritized.

From casual users to creative professionals, this update feels like Apple is finally listening. The iPad is no longer just a tablet; it's on the cusp of becoming a versatile workhorse.
