Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher dropped a surprise when he revealed that he had a serious attack of Vasculitis, an autoimmune disease.
Shockingly, the disease affected his vision, hearing, and the power of walking.
The 44 year old actor spoke about his condition in the National Geographic Show ‘Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge.’
In the video shared by Access Hollywood, Ashton Kutcher said, “Like two years ago, I had this weird, super rare form of vasculitis, that like knocked out my vision, it knocked out my hearing, it knocked out like all my equilibrium.”
“You don't really appreciate it until it's gone, until you go, I don't know if I'm ever going be able to see again. I don't know if I'm going be able to hear again, I don't know if I'm going to be able to walk again. I'm lucky to be alive.”
The actor, however, clarified in a tweet that he was diagnosed with the disease three years ago after his video went viral. On a positive note, he has completely recovered from the dreadful condition.
"Before there are a bunch of rumors/ chatter/ whatever out there. Yes, I had a rare vasculitis episode 3yrs ago. (Autoimmune flair up) I had some impairments hear, vision, balance issues right after. I fully recovered. All good. Moving on. See you at the 2022 NY Marathon w/Thorn," tweeted Ashton Kutcher.
‘Vasculitis’ causes inflammation of the blood vessels. The blood vessels can thicken which can affect the flow of blood passing through these vessels. If the blood flow is reduced, the specific tissue or organ gets damaged.
The body’s immune system attacks its blood vessels due to infections such as Hepatitis B, blood cancers, diseases like lupus, or reactions to certain drugs.
Vasculitis can be of many kinds and can affect anyone. The treatment depends on its severity.
It took a year to build himself up again, reveals the ‘No Strings Attached’ actor.
Ashton began his career as Michael Kelson featuring in the famous comedy sitcom ‘That 70s Show.’ He also appeared as Walden Schmidt in the well known TV series ‘Two and a Half Men.’
Kutcher is known for his brilliant performances in romantic comedies such as ‘What Happens In Vegas’, ‘Just Married’, ‘A Lot Like Love’ and so on.
