It has been confirmed that Swedish DJ and Producer died of apparent suicide. A statement concerning the DJ’S death was shared by his family.
Avicii, also known as Tim Bergling committed suicide according to a statement released by his close family. According to his family, the popular DJ was an over-ambitious perfectionist who worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. He struggled with thoughts about the meaning of life and happiness. He had several questions about our existence on earth. "Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions, Bergling's family said.”
The singer started gaining popularity in the early 2010s and his songs topped the charts all over the world with smash hits like ‘Levels’ and ‘Wake me up’. ‘Wake me up’ track had a blend of Electronic dance music (EDM) and country that clicked with the masses and hit the number four spot on Hot 100. Avicii worked tirelessly for the next few years and collaborated with some of the big names in the industry such as Madonna, Major Lazer, Coldplay, Robyn and Daft Punk.
In addition, he had a hectic touring schedule. It’s apparent that Avicii worked hard at a pace that could have led to extreme stress which eventually led to health issues. The singer was known to have had pancreatitis due to his drinking habits. He had also had his gall bladder and appendix removed. A hectic lifestyle coupled with complex health problems are the prime contributing factors that led to the singer’s early death.
Desire to find a balance in life
Though the Swedish DJ was at the peak of his career and was also listed number three on Forbes’ highest paid DJs, the talented DJ always desired to seek a balance in life. He made a major decision to stop touring in 2016 because he was seeking to find balance in life, “to be happy and be able to do what he loved most- music.” He was wrestling with the decision to stop touring since long and finally decided to give it all up.
According to family members, Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in. "He was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.” Avicii also released a documentary last year called 'Avicii: True Stories' that highlights a man who was pushed to breaking point by his management and who forced him to play more shows.
