Bengaluru Man’s Birthday Tribute Wins Hearts Online
A Bengaluru man went viral after running 26 km to celebrate his girlfriend’s 26th birthday, earning praise for his heartfelt gesture.
While most birthday surprises revolve around cakes, gifts, or dinner reservations, one Bengaluru resident chose a path that was anything but ordinary.
Avik Bhattacharya decided to lace up his running shoes and cover 26 kilometres—one for every year of his girlfriend Simran’s life—turning a simple milestone into an act of devotion.
The fitness enthusiast went viral after posting the video of himself running 26 kilometres to surprise his girlfriend on her special day. The clip, shared on their joint Instagram account @simranxavik, has taken social media by storm, drawing admiration for its creativity and sincerity.
Simran had originally planned to run 26 km herself on her birthday but couldn’t because she was unwell.
To surprise her, Avik decided to take on the challenge instead, recording snippets of his journey and dedicating each stride to her.
“My girlfriend just turned 26, so I’m going to be running 26 km for her birthday,” he says in the video.
Throughout the run, Avik chose not to wear earphones, explaining that he wanted to stay present, reflect on their memories together, and send prayers for her health. He emphasized that good health is “the foundation for everything.”
Interestingly, the couple is also training for the upcoming Mumbai Marathon, scheduled just two and a half weeks away. Despite their busy preparation, Avik carved out time for this symbolic gesture, making it even more meaningful.
Social Media Reactions
The video, uploaded on January 5, 2026, has already crossed 7.5 million views and gathered 6.8 lakh likes. Comments poured in from users who were deeply moved:
“Bro setting standards.”
“My throat just got heavy.”
“No way 26 times… where do you find such a guy?”
“For my mental sanity, I’ll assume this is AI.”
Why does it resonate? In a world where birthday surprises often revolve around material gifts, Avik’s gesture stood out for its thoughtfulness and effort. Many online users praised it as “raising relationship standards,” proving that sometimes the most memorable gifts are not bought, but lived.
