Binita Chetry from Assam Makes India Proud by Securing Third Place on Britain’s Got Talent

Binita Chetry, a nine-year-old from the state of Assam, has made India proud by securing third place in the international reality show Britain’s Got Talent. She is the first contestant from India to reach the finals of this prestigious competition.

When asked about her experience on the talent show, Binita said, “I am very happy and proud of myself. It’s the best experience.” She thanked the judges and audience with folded hands and expressed her heartfelt gratitude.

The young dancer impressed the audience with her ​stunning performance, showcasing remarkable flexibility, dance skills, and confidence on an international stage. Her routine, a fusion of contemporary dance with an Indian touch, received high praise from the judges.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Binita by sharing a video on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, showing her standing alongside her fellow contestants.

“Dancing her way to glory. Many congratulations to our very own Binita Chetry on securing the 3rd spot in the Britain’s Got Talent final. Her performances have mesmerised audiences from the Brahmaputra to the Thames and made us all proud,” he captioned the video.

Binita was accompanied to the competition by her father, who beamed with pride at her achievement.

“She has been learning dance since she was three years old... She participated in reality shows in Mumbai and the South. Now she’s the second runner-up in Britain’s Got Talent. This is not just an achievement for our family but for the whole country,” he said. “Thanks to everyone's love and support, she has reached this global stage."

Currently in the fifth grade, Binita is balancing her academic responsibilities with her passion for dance.

“I just want to improve my dancing and become better,” she said.
