Bollywood Action Star Vidyut Jammwal Joins ‘Street Fighter’ Cast for Hollywood Debut

Indian actor and martial artist Vidyut Jammwal is set to make his much-anticipated Hollywood debut in a live-action adaptation of the iconic video game franchise “Street Fighter.” The project, which features a powerhouse ensemble cast, marks a significant milestone in Jammwal’s global career trajectory.
Produced by Capcom, the Japanese video game giant behind the Street Fighter series, the film will be helmed by Kitao Sakurai, best known for his work on Bad Trip and Aardvark. Production is scheduled to begin in August in Australia.
In the film, Jammwal takes on the role of Dhalsim, the peace-loving, fire-breathing yogi who battles not for glory, but to provide for his family. His portrayal is expected to blend intense physical performance with emotional depth — a fitting role for an actor celebrated for both martial arts prowess and grounded screen presence.
The cast includes: Andrew Koji as Ryu Noah, Centineo as Ken, Liang as Chun-Li, Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Rhodes as Guile, Momoa as Blanka, Jackson as Balrog, Peck as Vega, Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Reigns as Akuma, and Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.
The Street Fighter franchise, first launched in 1987, exploded in popularity with 1991’s Street Fighter II, becoming a cornerstone of arcade culture and competitive gaming. Its characters have remained fan favorites for decades, and this latest film aims to reintroduce them to a new generation.
Jammwal, who made his Bollywood debut in Force (2011) — a role that earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut — is best known for his lead performance in the Commando franchise, where he redefined Indian action cinema through daring stunts and raw combat sequences. A lifelong practitioner of Kalaripayattu, one of India’s oldest martial arts, Jammwal is recognized globally as a disciplined and versatile action star.
