Bollywood Actress Pallavi Sharda Bags Upcoming American TV Show ‘Triangle’

Pallavi Sharda has become the latest Bollywood actress to bag an American TV show. The actress will be appearing in the ABC drama Pilot called ‘Triangle’ which is based on the ‘Bermuda Triangle.’ The upcoming series poses the question- “What if the Bermuda Triangle was not a watery grave in the middle of the ocean, but a land lost in time that has trapped travelers over the course of human history?”

The synopsis further states, “When a family is shipwrecked in this strange land, they must band together with a group of like-minded inhabitants — from throughout history — to survive and somehow find a way home.”

Pallavi who is also ‘Miss India Australia’ will play Alex who is David Roman’s (played by Mike Vogel) girlfriend. During a tropical getaway, their ship is capsized due to a violent storm and they end up in this mysterious land.  The plot of ‘Triangle’ is definitely hair raising and promising.

Pallavi isn’t new to television and movies. She began her Bollywood career by playing a cameo in Karan Johar’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ in 2010. Later she appeared in a comedic drama film titled ‘Dus Tola’ in which she plays Geeta; a village dance teacher. She went on to act in movies like ‘Besharam’, 'Begum Jaan’ and ‘Hawaizaada.’ ‘Hawaizaada’ is inspired by true events and is based on the story of Shivkar Bapuji Talpade who is believed to have flown an unmanned aircraft in 1895.

Pallavi was even the new face for IPL 2016 when she joined Sony ESPN’S team.

While Pallavi’s entry in ‘Triangle’ makes us proud, we’ve had actors like Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher, Kabir Bedi and so on who’ve inspired, paved a path and proved to foreign audiences that Indian actors are capable of taking up international projects.

Priyanka Chopra successfully established herself as an international actor when she portrayed the strong character of Alex Parrish effortlessly in ‘Quantico.’ Even last month Priyanka was in talks with Amazon Prime Video for projects. As per reports, Amazon Prime Video is working on a Jonas Brothers documentary and apparently, Priyanka Chopra has to be credited for it. Amazon studios head Jennifer Salke told IANS “I love Priyanka and she introduced me to Nick Jonas. They sent me a video and we bought it right away and that’s how we came about it.”

Just like Priyanka Chopra, Anupam Kher played a neurosurgeon in the first series of ‘New Amsterdam’ which is inspired by Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in the United States. Earlier Anupam shared on Twitter that the show has been confirmed for season 2.

Mallika Sherawat appeared in the popular TV series ‘Hawaii Five O’ which was an American Police drama series. Likewise, Kabir Bedi appeared in ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ as Prince Omar Rashid where he acted alongside Tyler (Hunter Tylo).

Indian actors are making us swell with pride for leaving their footprints and for contributing diversity in American television. They are not only bagging shows albeit they are doing justice to the characters and roles, some of them being sharply in contrast to Indian roles. There would be high expectations from Pallavi too given that she’s already acted in ABC Australia’s medical drama ‘Pulse’ and has been bestowed with the “Rising Star” award by the Casting Guild of Australia.
