Bollywood Speaks up on ‘Citizenship Amendment Act’ While Protests Rage Across India

Bollywood has come under the scanner for remaining silent on the Citizenship Amendment Act issue that has fiercely gripped the whole nation. Many Twitter users called out stars of Bollywood for not expressing their valuable views when Delhi Police entered Jamia Millia Islamia campus and attacked the students in the library.

Since the time CAA has come to the forefront and has taken the country by storm due to its discriminatory nature towards the Muslim community, nationals want powerful personalities from various areas to express their views. After all most citizens look up to Bollywood personalities.

And now Bollywood has just done that. They’ve taken to Twitter and given a clear stand.

Hrithik Roshan was one of the first few to take to twitter and share his concern over the unrest across prime educational institutions of India.

Vicky Kaushal said that every citizen has the right to peacefully voice their opinion.

Ayushman Khurrana raised an important point that while it is important to protest, one should keep in mind that the protests shouldn’t turn violent. ‘Ahimsa’ should be the key tool to express.

Mahesh Bhatt wrote an impactful post in which he emphasized on love and humanity.

The Indian film industry has broken its silence on the big issue with some powerful and hard-hitting words on CAA, protests, and violence while the focus primarily being on “peaceful protests.”

Meanwhile, in Bengaluru and across all major cities in India section #144 has been imposed. Protestors across the country, however, have defied section #144. Noted historian Ramachandra Guha has been arrested for waving a blue color placard that said: “CAA is against our constitution.”

Protests have been raised by student groups, ordinary citizens and political groups across 11 cities in India and there are several who are getting detained. Entry and exit gates of several metro stations had been shut.

The significant question raised by peaceful protestors is why they are not allowed to peacefully express their views, this being their constitutional right.
